| 22" KESTNER # 174
BISQUE DOLL Copyright © 1999-2008 Classic Collectables |
~ Signed Body ~ |
Kestner # 174, 22 inches tall. This is one of the harder molds to find. The head is marked G Made in Germany and the number 174 below. What looks to be the number 11 is to the right of Made in Germany. Really a beautiful doll. She has large brown sleep eyes. Open mouth with four white teeth. Her hands, fingers and toes are all ok. All in all she really has a great body. All her joints appear to be ok and she seems to be strung firmly as there is no looseness at the joints, they all move as they should. Her shoes may or may not be originals, they look old and are marked 3 ½ just as the number on her butt. I do not believe the wig or dress are original to the doll. I could be wrong on the wig but her dress is a little snug. Unless she has put on some weight ... it probably is not the dress she came with. The body is in nice shape. The arms and legs fit nicely. She is marked Germany and 3 ½ in red on her butt. Although the face is a beautiful one she does have a chip in the rim under the wig and what looks like a very faint hairline crack in her forehead. It is hardly noticeable as it is now, if you bleached over it I think it would be virtually unnoticeable. With her wig on this becomes virtually invisible and she displays quite nicely. Note there are remnants of old red finger nail polish on her fingers which is easily removed with polish remover. Here is an opportunity to own a really great Kestner doll. She books around 1200.00 or more but because of the hairline she is priced at about a third of that. If you enjoy beautiful bisque dolls but can't justify the price, here is a beautiful, very affordable example. Her body is really in great shape and for display the hairline is invisible, so, here you can have your cake and eat it too! PRICE: SOLD |
ABOVE: This is the "after" pic of the doll below. Her wig was straightened up a little, her clothes washed and the incorrect nail polish removed.
