LIONEL - UNCATALOGED 238, 2265W

LIONEL BLACK UNCATALOGED 238, 2265W. c. 1939-40. Original. The black 238's never carried the "E" designation in their number and were only sold in uncataloged sets. This version with the very hard to find 2265W tender would have come with the hard to find red, long wheel base 2600, 2601, 2602 passenger cars in the Sears store special set # 59-79P.

The engine in not running, it needs the drum in the e-unit replaced. The tender should be rewired. There are two non original screws in the valve train, correct replacements if desired are available from parts vendors (see my links page), however the wheels and valve train spin freely and work as they should the way they are.
