LIONEL OUTFIT # 144 COPYRIGHT © 1999-2008 CLASSIC COLLECTABLES |
LIONEL OUTFIT # 144. 262, 262T, 613, 613, 614 IN TERRA COTTA & MAROON. ORIGINAL. This set was only cataloged in 1931 and 1932. This set has two 613's and no baggage car which is correct for this set. The baggage car didn't come until the following year and appeared in set 144E. The car boxes are marked for Terra Cotta. The engine is gloss black without the orange frame stripe which is correct for this set. The flags have the rolled tin type stems like original flags, not die cast, but I believe they may be replacements. The 262 loco is the hand reverse version, again correct for this set, and has been tested. It runs smoothly forward and reverse, the light works. The roller pickups have been replaced. The loco has the original pilot which is sometimes broken on these engines since cow catcher is a part of the frame casting and was easily broken. The Boxes. The set box bottom has all corners in tact. The top has some neat repairs (no tape) to strengthen the corners. There are a few minor missing pieces of cardboard on the edges , seams and corners of the box, but still a very stable box with original label. None of the car boxes have coupler flaps, all the end flaps and interior flaps are present except one interior flap is off of the 614 box. The engine box has all it's flaps plus insert, the caboose box has all it's flaps except one coupler flap. All the boxes have some seam repairs to the flaps to stabilize the boxes. All the boxes present very nicely. A Wonderful set. GRADES C-7 PRICE: SOLD |
ABOVE: The brown spot on the tender is not rust, it is a reflection.
